Commissioned by the German Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, our partner adrian.mehlin.prozessnavigation (amp) approached us to implement the visual advertising for the "kommKOOP - Erfolgreiche Beispiele interkommunaler Kooperationen." It is a national competition sponsored by the German Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs and organized by our partner agency. Our involvement in the implementation included the planning phase, the event itself, and even creating the documentation for the entire process.
The challenge here was to use the basic design and implement it successfully. This included all aspects from the invitation and event design, to online registration and sending the e-mail newsletters, as well as the photo documentation and completion of the 4,000 copies of the 112-page print documentation with scores of illustrations.

The selection of pages here shows samples of our design work for the 112-page documentation on the competition, the congress, and the awards ceremony. One of the main challenges was the ”Change Management” for overseeing the various authors, communities involved, and decision-makers.
One of the most important skills, which is difficult to communicate in these case studies, is the ability to handle the constant stream of changing requests, which were not always congruent. Yet without this skill it is nearly impossible to be successful.
kommKOOP Event
The competition was open for entries from May to November 2005. 167 cooperative projects entries were submitted by the deadline. The awards ceremony for the "kommKOOP - Erfolgreiche Beispiele interkommunaler Kooperationen" competition took place on October 4th, 2006, at the Umweltforum Berlin Auferstehungskirche GmbH’s venue in Berlin, Germany. The German Secretary of Transport, Building, and Urban Affairs, Dr. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, and jury chair, Dr. Irene Wiese-von Ofen, awarded a total of 15 prizes and 37 honorable mentions in five areas at the event.
Die Ergebnisse des Wettbewerbs werden im Rahmen einer Veröffentlichung dokumentiert, die seit Ende November über das Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordnung bezogen werden kann. So soll auch einer breiteren Fachöffentlichkeit ermöglicht werden, sich einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand interkommunaler Kooperationen zu verschaffen. Dadurch sollen übertragbare Ansätze möglichst eine große Bekanntheit und Verbreitung und viele Nachahmer finden.
